Minutes for the Southeastern Chapter of the MVA

Date: November 27, 2007
1.0 Welcome and roll call at 3:30
Present were: Steve Miranda, Irene Ashley, Allen Vaughan, and John Mare
2.0 Minutes of the October meeting were missing Guy Shepherd on the attendance. After the change A.V. made a motion to accept as amended I.A. seconded. Approved unanimously.
3.0 Financial report. After correcting a discrepancy in the books, the balance previously reported was found to be incorrect. It actually was $4784.10. with the latest deposit $5720.10.
4.0 Correspondence
Carol Hartnett emailed. She spoke to Karen Ward and she was very interested in having students helping at the conference.
John McDermott has emailed updates on conference survey results.
Mike Viggianno has written an “MVA White Paper” giving a synopsis of MVA’s purpose and position.
5.0 Committee
5.1 Membership Reports were given out for each school.
5.2 Region I mailing is ready for the convention
ACTE Convention
Policy committee meeting, call of delegates.
Marcus Ashley is one of the candidates for Region I VP
5.3 Awards- Save-the- Date Cards will be sent out.
Awards dinner letter is ready to be sent to superintendents and reps.
5.4 Legislation-not much new
President is prepared to veto the appropriations bill
5.5 Convention
It was suggested that we create a form for spousal event sponsorship.
A waiver for kid’s night out is in development.
Tipping will not be allowed during “Faces of Spring”.
Traveling Bazaar tickets to go out at convention.
