The Beginning
The Massachusetts Vocational Association was founded in 1930. The first president of the MVA was Harold L. Pride. He taught manual arts in 1936 and later became the director of the Waltham Trade School until his death in 1954.
October 18, 1976 the association was incorporated.
In 1988 the Massachusetts Vocational Association, Inc. became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The MVA membership consist of people working in the state of Massachusetts. Our membership is available to anyone who would like to support and preserve Vocational/Technical Education at both secondary and post-secondary level. We have approximately 1400 members. Administrators, school committee members, teachers, support personnel, and retirees who are working or associated with vocational/technical education make up most of our members.
